HLG Charles
Hoffecker has been practicing law since 1998. Mr. Hoffecker
formed HLG in 2006. His practice focuses primarily on representing
HLG’s corporate and individual clients in contract litigation,
insurance coverage litigation, commercial/business litigation and
liability litigation.
Prior to forming HLG, Mr. Hoffecker
practiced law at one of the Southeast’s leading litigation firms
based in Atlanta, Georgia. Mr. Hoffecker represented clients in
insurance defense litigation, coverage litigation, premises
liability, products liability, governmental liability and employment
litigation. Prior to private practice, Mr. Hoffecker was appointed
as the General Counsel for the Georgia Department of Juvenile
Justice where he acted as the Director of the Office of Legal
Services and the Office of Professional Responsibility and
Accountability. He has also served as an Assistant Attorney General
in the Georgia Department of Law where he represented State Agencies
in regulatory and litigation matters.
Memberships: Mr. Hoffecker is
a member of the State Bar of Georgia and is admitted to practice in
the 11th Circuit Court of Appeals, all state and federal courts in
Georgia, and the United States District Court, District of South
Carolina, and the United States District Court, Eastern District of
Missouri. He is also a member of the State Bar Health Law Section
and Government Attorneys Section. Mr. Hoffecker serves as an
Advisory Board Member to the Southern Poverty Law Center – Southern
Juvenile Defender Center based in Birmingham, Alabama.
Mr. Hoffecker is a Charter Fellow of
the Litigation Counsel of America (LCA), which is a trial lawyer
honorary society composed of less than one-half of one percent of
American lawyers. Fellowship is by invitation only based upon
effectiveness and accomplishment in litigation, both at the trial
and appellate levels, and superior ethical reputation. Additionally,
in 2009 Mr. Hoffecker was selected by Super Lawyer Magazine and his
peers as a Georgia Super Lawyer: Rising Star in Business Litigation.
This honor is a confidential peer reviewed process and Mr. Hoffecker
is one of only two percent of Georgia attorneys to receive this

Publications: Mr. Hoffecker is
a contributing author to the Defense Research Institute Defense
Library Series, A Young Lawyer’s Guide to Defense Practice, and
authored Chapter 18: The Use of Evidence at Trial. Mr. Hoffecker’s
chapter focuses on the technical and practical aspects of effective
use of evidence at trial and valuable strategies for the admission
of evidence at trial. The book is a guide for young litigation
attorneys and is a collection of chapters written by leading defense
attorneys from across the country.
Education: Mr. Hoffecker
received his Juris Doctor degree in 1998 from Valparaiso University
School of Law in Indiana. He was an Associate Editor of the
Valparaiso University Law Review. In 1994 Mr. Hoffecker earned a
B.A., with honors, from Albion College in Michigan.
